Reading an oracle deck made simple

Working with oracle cards is fun, inspirational and often times amazing. They can be used for daily inspiration, as a part of your spiritual practice or on days when you are seeking more clarity and guidance on a particular issue. Here are some different ways to use oracle cards.

Select a card each morning to begin your day with an intention or question:

  • What will today bring?
  • What can I focus on today?
  • What do I need to know now?
  • You can simply choose a to be a focus of a morning meditation.

I have clients who like to draw a card during the day when they need a pick me up. One married couple uses their decks in the evening before bed while reflecting on their day together. The ways to use oracle cards are really limitless.

  • You can use the cards to answer questions and seek guidance.
  • You can select cards for simple and more complex spreads.
  • And you can use oracle cards with other divination tools to get more information or clarification.

The most important tool that assists you when working with oracle cards is your intuition. Follow your inner guidance when selecting a card. If you feel the urge to draw two or three additional cards, trust that. If a card jumps out while you are shuffling, it is a message for you as well. Trust what you feel each card means to you in addition to the word on the card and it’s interpretation.

Other ways to use the cards:
  • Use your deck as a daily spiritual practice or in addition to your current one.
  • Keep a favorite deck on your alter, next to your bed, or on your desk.
  • Share and use with a friend.

Have fun. There are no limits. You will be amazed at the accuracy of the messages which:
  • Validate what you may already know.
  • Give you a gentle nudge.
  • Provides clarification.

You can have one deck you love to use or many. There are many different types of decks to choose from: angels, fairies, healing, purpose, nature etc. Whether it’s the subject or the artwork, choose the deck that resonates for you.

Oracle and tarot decks reflect your energy and where you are now, recent past and where you are heading. It is important to remember that you can change your path at any time so use this as guidance and see if you like where you are heading. If not, the cards give you the opportunity to make the changes that will serve you on your journey.

With Gratitude,
Allyson

The Chakras

Chakras - quick overview

The chakras play an important role in my Soul Tree readings and paintings, which inspired me to create a series of chakra paintings for my oracle card deck, The Wisdom of Soul Trees.  I have been sharing these paintings on social media as I have created them. In this blog, I am sharing more general information on the chakras along with each painting and a short description of the seven main chakras.

Each chakra is complex and offers a wealth of knowledge.  The information below barely scratches the surface of the knowledge available on each chakra.  If you are interested in learning more about the chakras, there are countless books available and more information is just a click away on the internet.

Some of you may be wondering, what are the chakras anyway?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex and it refers to energy centers located deep within our bodies. There are hundreds of chakras within the body, I am focusing on the seven main chakras that affect our lives daily. Chakras work as pumps regulating the flow of energy through our bodies. They are not physical, but aspects of consciousness. Learning about the chakras gives us an understanding of the relationship between consciousness and our body. When one or more of our chakras is blocked or under active, the life force energy cannot flow through them and it can cause mental, emotional and physical dis-ease. Therefore, it is important for all of the chakras to be balanced, open and flowing.

First Chakra- Root
The Root chakra, which is usually considered to be red, is the first of seven main chakras. Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is related to matters concerning our physical security, home, career, money, family of origin, and our connection to the earth.
Second Chakra- Sacral
The Sacral chakra, considered to be orange, is located between the top of the pelvic bone up to the navel. This chakra is related to matters of the body, addictions, cravings, sensual activities and boundless creativity. While the first chakra is about survival, the second chakra awakens the desire to enjoy life.

Third Chakra- Solar Plexus

The third chakra, the Solar Plexus, is yellow and located between the navel and the rib cage. This chakra is sometimes referred to as the power chakra. The Solar Plexus holds the energy that is about identity: the ego, sense of self, setting boundaries, will power, and our fears. This chakra is about developing self-control.

Fourth Chakra- Heart Center
The fourth chakra is the Heart Center, located at the center of the chest. The color of this chakra is emerald green. This chakra is about love (of others and self), relationships, compassion, forgiveness and the experience of unity with all of life. The Heart chakra is where the lower chakras merge with the upper chakras.

Fifth Chakra- Throat

The fifth chakra is the Throat, which is blue and located at the Adams apple. This chakra's corresponding issues are: all forms of communication, speaking up & speaking your truth (to yourself as well as others), and asking for what you need. This chakra urges you to express yourself in a creative way. Owning your authentic nature can awaken self-acceptence of your uniqueness which leads to finding your voice and speaking your truth.
Sixth Chakra- Third Eye

The sixth is referred to as the Third Eye, it is indigo and located between the eyebrows. This chakra is about our intuition, intellect, imagination, insight and navigating the unknown. At the sixth chakra level, we trust life and allow it to flow and unfold.

Seventh Chakra- Crown

The seventh chakra is the Crown, located at the top of the head. This chakra is usually violet or white. The Crown is about our connection to our higher power (whatever that is to you), higher awareness, faith, spirituality and religion. It acts like a portal to our Divine. Here we may receive divinely inspired visions and experience Oneness with all. The Crown chakra awakens us to the all-encompassing purpose of the soul. Consciousness at this level can be described as sacred.
I would love to hear which of these chakra paintings resonates the most for you!

Next time I will discuss the role that chakras play in my Soul Tree readings & artwork.

Spring, the season of renewal, is a great time to order a Soul Tree to draw inspiration and self-awareness after this, especially long winter.  Visit Soul-Trees.com to place your order.
